Konstantinos PETSIOS

Konstantinos Th. Petsios was born in Ioannina, where he completed his primary and secondary education. He read Political Sciences in the Law School of the University of Athens, and Philosophy at the University of Ioannina. He studied at postgraduate level at the University Bamberg in Germany and in 1993 he was named a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Ioannina. His doctoral dissertation, which attained a grade of “Excellent”, was titled “Philosophical concepts as argumentative devices by the Attic orators”. During his undergraduate and post-graduate studies he was sponsored by scholarships granted by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation. He is Full Professor, in the field of History of Philoshophy: Ancient and Modern Greek Philosophy.

From 1993 to 1997, he collaborated with the Academy of Athens (Research Centre for Greek Philosophy); from 1995 to 1998, with the Institute of Neohellenic Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation; from 1998 to 2002, with the Hellenic Parliament; in 2004 with the Greek State Scholarships Foundation; and from 2003 to 2005, with the Pedagogical Institute. He is a member of the Hellenic Philosophical Society, the Group for Study of the Modern Greek Enlightenment and the Society of Epirotic Studies. He is also the Vice-Chairman at the Board of Directors at the Foundation for Studies of the Ionian and Adriatic Region.
